1972 for Jeremiah Peters

in 1972 I was going to Selkirk Elementary and I was 8 years old. We watched many games in our gym and if it carried on past school time we rushed home or I did and watched the games with my parents and or school mates we cheered and clapped our hands and hugged each other when Paul Henderson scored that goal.

When the game was in Vancouver we went to the hotel they were staying at and got Autographs and was told were the Soviets were staying and I got to meet Vladislav Tretiak and they had security but the player’s pushed them aside so we could get there Autographs and they reached out to shake hands my Mom told them your not so bad your good people and we played street hockey pretending we were our heroes on Canada or the Soviets and it was the following year I collected all of there hockey card’s that O-Pee-Chee made up for both teams was a excellent time for me to really become a fan of hockey
